The Interreg-IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Hungary-Serbia celebrates the annual European Cooperation Day this September and early October with 15 events, hosted by 9 projects that are being implemented within this Programme.

With the goal to showcase what the cross-border cooperation between the two neighbouring countries represents and to raise awareness about the importance of the EU investments the region, the Joint Secretariat of the Programme invites the residents of the Hungary-Serbia border region and its visitors to join this year’s celebration.

The visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy free-of-charge art exhibitions, theatre shows for children, agricultural seminars, music festivals, fairs and much more.

The participating projects, which help preserve the cultural heritage of the Hungary-Serbia border region and increase its tourism potential, or improve the water management systems in the region, or enhance economic competitiveness of the small and medium enterprises, are the following:

The Events’ Schedule:

14 September 2019 – the 12th Conference of the Hungarian Cultivation of Truffle

About the event: Some of the topics that the Conference explores are the following: the forest truffle cultivation; collection and processing according to the rules of organic farming; modern technologies in closed system cultivation; protection of summer truffle, and many more. The event will also involve a session on matching wines with truffles and truffle tasting.

14 September 2019 – V Fonó Club – Music evening by Miklós Heinczinger (Mistral Ensemble)

About the event: Fonó Club is a series of events, which aim to promote the ethno culture by organizing folk dance events for young people. These events introduce the ethno culture and bring it closer to young people. The program includes folk concerts and folk dance houses of multiple nations, including folk dance teaching.

15 September 2019 – Serbian-Hungarian craft unloading market

About the event: Serbian Cultural Centre “Kolo” will organize a family day to introduce special arts, including the fine arts and art of wood through exhibition fair and craft activities. During the fair, participants may try handicraft themselves with the help of artists from Serbia and Hungary which will turn the event into a special, personal experience. During the event, live music performance will ensure the good mood.

19-20 September 2019 – Conference on the heritage of Bačka Region

About the event: The conference is focusing on the role of visual resources in the evaluation and presentation of monuments. It presents problems and their possible solutions which can be raised during the restoration/renovation of monuments, old buildings. Thematic sessions will involve photography, frescoes, paintings, archive documents, films, and more.

20 September 2019 – Closing conference of the project PROTECT

About the event: The Closing conference will present the project idea, objectives, activities and results about invasive species in Project protected areas. The event will host 100 participants from relevant institutions and authorities, but it is open to public, as well. The speakers at the event will be from Serbian and Hungarian institutions (the Provincial Secretariat for Urban Planning and Environmental Protection – Provincial Secretary, project manager, as well as representatives from John Von Noiman University – project partner from Kecskemet, Hungary. The project results will be presented via presentation and a film.

21 September 2019 – Serbian Marathon – folk fashion show, dance and music event

About the event: The Serbian Cultural Centre “Kolo” will organize a folklore fashion show. Throughout the day the participants will have the opportunity to view the exhibition of folk costumes and gain insight into the process of various embroidery techniques. The main attraction of the day will be the fashion show with emphasized folk art elements within the modern collections of fashion designers.

About the event: The 1st International Brass Music Festival in Mórahalom offers a chance for classical brass and wood brass bands to introduce themselves and to compete with one another. The merging of the Serbian and the Hungarian culture through art is an important element of this Festival. The Festival, will also introduce musical instruments, joyful music, round table discussions and professional workshops.

2 October 2019 – Exhibition PLANTSVITA project for the environment-friendly agriculture”

About the event: The Exhibition will present the project’s objectives, expected results and the results achieved up-to-date via film. Additionally, the project will present the capacity of the CB PLANTSVITA Centre via a slide show. The event is open to public. Each visitor who expresses interest will be informed about the advantages of the Ecological Pest Management and the potential features of new products that will be developed within the project PLANTSVITA.

2-3 October 2019 – International conference “Challenges for the development of new tourist niches”

About the event: This two-day international conference will host experts from the tourism sector from the countries in the region that face similar challenges as Hungary and Serbia in terms of development of new tourist destinations to exchange experiences and to present good practices in solving concrete problems.
